RECEIVE®
Plan Check Response Letter NOV 2 9 2017
a rc n1 t c c to re
engineering
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Date: November 27, 2017 DEPARTMENT
To: San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (UST)
Project: 1490 S. Main Street; Manteca Chevron — SR0076222
Below are our responses to the plan check comments contained in the email dated November 8,
2017.
1. Drawing FS-1 (and FS-7)identifies that an external audible visual alarm will be installed,
however, flapper valves were identified on the revised permit application, please clarify.
Also, provide the proposed drop tube calculations for the overfill flapper valves.
External audible visual alarm is specified for redundancy, but this does not
have positive shut-off,and is design preference. See attached proposed drop
tube calculations for the overfill flapper valves, which is dependent on tank
bury depth so needs to be finalized by the installing fueling contractor.
2. Drawing FS-6,please clarify concrete thickness around the under dispenser containments
(UDCs).
Sheet FS-6 revised to show 6"thickness.
3. On your sheets please identify the minimum pea gravel thickness to be installed between
tank sumps and the concrete to prevent load transfer to the top of the tank(s).
Sheet FS-5, revised to show 3 inch.
4. Drawings FS-3, FS-4, FS-5 show that brine sump sensor reservoir will be mounted onto
the sump wall. Per the submitted sump cut sheets, these sumps have built-in brine
reservoirs and not the external sump reservoirs. Please clarify how these brine sensors
will be installed inside STP sumps.
Drawings revised for built-in brine reservoir with sensor.
5. Drawing FS-6 identifies that a sump sensor port will be located at the top of the UDC,
however, per the submitted Bravo cut sheet the brine sensor port connection is located
at the bottom of the UDC, please clarify how UDC brine sensors will be installed and how
brine communication will be verified inside the proposed UDC sumps. Please revise and
resubmit.
Sheet FS-6,detail 1, revised to show connection at bottom. No change to
sensor and reservoir location with sight glass.
6. On the revised drawings(for example FS-3 and FS-4)its unclear if the proposed sumps
are VPH compliant, for example, no VPH shroud boots and clamps are illustrated or
Identified(refer to the attached illustration). Per the EHD permit application(page 4),
detail of sumps and under-dispenser containment to demonstrate vapor tightness"and
"detail of system that demonstrates it is impervious to water intrusion"must be provided.
Please revise and resubmit.
Sheets FS-3 and FS-4 revised to illustrate shroud boots. FS-5 revised also
revised to demonstrate imperviousness to water intrusion.
867 Pacific Street, Suite 120 phone (805) 540-5240
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 fax (805) 540-5241
