SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
BUSINESS EMERGENCY PLAN
(LONG FORM)
INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL
The attached format should be used by businesses to complete the required
emergency plan. A plan should be completed for each facility which has a
different address. Additional information or sections can be added by the
business if desired. At least one copy should be retained by the business for
its own use during an emergency. This should be readily accessible for use by
- employees, or inspection by County representatives.
While completing the plan you should keep in mind the characteristics and
quantities of the hazardous materials used. Businesses should submit a plan
that is more or less detailed depending on the risk posed by these chemicals to
employees and the surrounding public. All sections of this plan should be
considered in light of the situation of the business. Some sections may be
less appropriate than others due to the type and quantity of hazardous
materials used. If some equipment, or capability, is required in a section,
and the business feels that it is not needed, or appropriate, then that should
be noted in the appropriate section.
The County realizes that certain businesses already have emergency plans
prepared due to other legislation. Therefore, the following types of plans may
be submitted in lieu of the County plan format:
o Resources Conservation and Recovery Act Emergency Plan with
Section 6 of the County plan attached
o California Pipeline Safety Act Contingency Plan
If you need any assistance in completing this form, please call the County
Office of Emergency Services at (209)944-2116.
