SECTION B <br /> FIRST AID AND EMERGENCY TREATMENT <br /> 1 1. First Aid and Emergency Equipment <br /> 1 During underground storage tank removal activities at the California Compress Site, the <br /> Health and Safety Officer(HSO) will maintain a variety of first aid and emergency <br /> equipment in the support zone. All personnel on site will have access to this equipment, <br /> 1 in the event an injury or exposure occurs. The various types of first aid equipment that <br /> will be available include: <br /> 1 For Burns: Burn spray and ointment. Contained water source. Eye wash. <br /> For Lacerations: Assorted dressings; adhesive tape; Band-Aids; sterile pads; antiseptic <br /> ' wipes; ointments. <br /> Miscellaneous: First aid kit; scissors; instant cold packs; fire extinguishers. <br /> 1 2. Emergency First aid Response to Falls Cuts Abrasions Etc <br /> 1 In the event of any first aid situation requiring response to falls, cuts, abrasions, etc., any <br /> worker may respond to the victim, if the victim agrees. (In the absence of consciousness, <br /> that agreement can be presumed.) The sequence of assistance is as follows: <br /> 1 a. Call 911 from a phone if the situation appears to require more assistance than can <br /> 1 be given. <br /> b. Treat the victim, if confident of the outcome. <br /> 1 C. Do not treat the victim, if there is no confidence that the proper attention is being <br /> given. <br /> ' d. Move the victim to a safe place, with assistance, if required. <br /> 1 e. Get the assistance of a trained First Aid person, or get medical attention, if <br /> necessary. <br /> ' 3.
