I am currently in touch with Hopkins Manufacturing to assist us in verifying that the funnel we used as a splash guard,
see attached photo, is predominantly a polypropylene product and totally compatible with gasoline and diesel fuel, see
attached chemical compatibility chart, pages 4/13, 5/13, and 13/13. I expect to hear back from the Manufacturer either
later today or sometime tomorrow.
2. I understand the manufacture of the pump was contacted and they said there is no existing device
made. If we can get an email or something from them saying there is no device available for the
purpose the County is asking they will may accept that as well.
I have been in touch with S. Bravo, the manufacturers of the Deflector Plates for"other than Gasboy Dispensers"(see
attached drawings for Ovation and Encore dispensers and photo showing red dotted line of leakage being deflected into
UDC). S. Bravo is aware of the need for a deflector plate for Gasboy Atlas series dispensers but do not currently have
anything in production.
I will keep you posted, Joe
Joseph Bagley(Capt. If I recall correctly you were satisfied that our funnel would indeed deflect a leak into the UDC
but nevertheless you were not prepared to sign off on our remedy because it was not a fix that was approved by the
State Water Board and was not listed in LG113. I did a fair amount of research regarding this issue trying to find a "state
approved" deflector plate for a Gasboy 9800 dispenser. It did not take me too long to determine that there is no such
thing on the market.
Thinking that I may have to actually design something and try to have it approved by the State I found myself in contact
with Cory Hootman at the State Water Board and he was able to give me some very good insight into how we have
2
