SJRTD-FRACTURED DT-2 FIBERGLASS PIPING IN DIESEL TRANSITION SUMP-REV 1
PROBLEM: Diesel leak Inside the Diesel Transition Sump in the Filter Room(See Plan Sheet FS2.16 for location of
filter room).
Diesel Tank#2(DT-2)Smith Fiberglass product line as shown on Plan Sheets FS1.00, FS2.16, FS9.01, Detail 3,and
Plan Sheet F510.01, Detail 1........is FRACTURED and seeping from the top portion of the Smith Fiberglass piping just
forward of the penetration fitting on the inside of the Bravo Double Wall FRP Transition Sump(see Plan Sheet
FS10.01, Detail 1(Fuel Filters Room Enlarged Plans)for clarification.
SCOPE OF WORK: Note:Attempting to repair the line inside the transition sump without breaking concrete is not
an option. Hence, the remaining two approaches outlined below wherein concrete must be removed are
somewhat exploratory. NOTE: NOTIFY END USER THAT BOTH DT-1 AND DT-2 DIESEL DISPENSING SYSTEMS WILL BE
SHUT DOWN FOR THE DURATION OF THE REPAIRS
APPROACH#1: Involves DT-2 fueling system only.

,:.z.-,
1. Shut down DT-2 product line and purge line of product. IUL 18 2018
2. If deemed necessary, remove Filter#1 to facilitate demo of concrete in front of transition sump.
3. Demo approx 3'x 4'concrete in front of transition sump and expose DT-1 and DT-2 piping.
4. Remove approx 24"-36" of 4" DT-2 secondary piping to expose 3" DT-2 product line. ENVIRONMENTAL
5. Install test boots and purge DT-2 product line with Helium@ 50 psi test pressure. HEA!_TH PFQA.PT,A.ENT
6. Test secondary from excavation point to STP sump for presence of Helium. NOTE: If Helium is detected,
meaning that the primary line is leaking into the secondary, then work will commence to determine
where the leak is located and an additional scope of work will be produced and added to this permit. If no
Helium is detected attempt will be made to repair the leak from the front of the transition sump without
removing the sump.
7. Working inside and outside of the sump disconnect 3" Flex Connector from 3" product line and remove
4"Smith Entry Fitting and approx 24" of 3" product line in front of sump.
8. Replace 4"Smith Entry Fitting with new like item.
9. Replace removed section of 3" product line and reconnect to Flex Connector.
10. Replace 4"secondary with Clamshell fitting.
11. Test primary and secondary piping of both DT-1 and DT-2 systems
12. Backfill and replace concrete.
NOTE: If 4" Entry Fitting cannot be successfully removed and replaced without irreparable damage to the
transition sump, then work will commence to APPROACH#2.
APPROACH#2: Involves DT-1 and DT-2 systems.
1. Notify end users that both DT-1 and DT-2 systems will be out of commission FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD.
2. PURGE DT-1 line of product.
3. Demo remaining concrete around transition sump
4. Working inside and outside of the sump disconnect 3" Flex Connector from 3" product line and remove
4"Smith Entry Fitting and approx 24"of 3" product line in front of sump.
5. Remove DT-1 and DT-2 piping from inside transition sump up to solenoid valves.
6. Remove and replace transition sump with new like item.
7. Reinstall DT-1 and DT-2 piping from inside transition sump up to solenoid valves.
8. Install new Smith 4" Entry Fittings.
9. Install 3" product lines and connect to Flex Connectors
10. Install 4"secondary piping with Clamshell fittings.
11. Test primary and secondary of both DT-1 and DT-2 systems.
12. Backfill and replace concrete.
