Companies that
have embraced this state-of-the-art leak detection technology have learned that sensitive leak detection
techniques actually save money over conventional testing methods. MDleak`"m test method is approved
by the California State Water Resources Control Board for Enhanced Leak Detection (ELD) and has
been listed by the National Work Group on Leak Detection Evaluations(NWGLDE). Leak Detection
Technologies,LLC, ()LDT)and Leak Detection Operations,Inc are authorized service providers of the
MDleak method.
Flexible:
MDleaklm is a flexible testing method which allows owners to choose the sensitivity or leak rate of the
test. In some cases the facility owners may require a0.2 ph minimum leak rate where at other
facilities an ultra high sensitivity leak rate is required. The;,MDleak'S'testing method is unlike other
conventional testing methods in that it can deliver an adjustable sensitivity to fit nearly any test
protocol.
Economical:
The MDleakS"test method does not require the system to be shut down during the test period like most
conventional testing methods. Other than access to the surface directly above the tanks and piping,no
disruption to the production of the facility is required. Furthermore,::Leak Detection Technologies
(LDT) can save our clients dollars in lost time and unnecessary excavation. Conventional testing
methods can detect leaks at low sensitivity but cannot identify the source of the leak within the system.
LDT ability to locate leaks with precision reduces downtime and saves our customer dollars.
Concept:
A Chemical Marker "A" (Sulphur Hexafluorido)is added to the product within the containment to be
tested, such as an underground storage tank(UST), or pipeline, or an aboveground storage tank(AST)
where the tank bottom may require testing. Once the chemical marker is added to the product (liquid,
vapor, or both)any leak in the containment would carry the chemical marker out into the surrounding
space, outside of the primary containment (see ExxonMobil `World Jet Fuel Specification 2008
Edition". When the surrounding space is soil or backfill; soil vapor sampling ports are installed.
Sampling ports are installed along the piping trench and around the tank perimeter.
