One UST was transported off site under a hazardous waste manifest, which is
included in the Site Closure Report. The UST was empty and dry, thus there was
no liquid waste generated. T here was no soil disposal because excavated soils
were used as a backfill material.
b. CKY first backfilled and compacted the excavation on November 8, 1995, as
indicated in the Site Closure Report. At the direction of Mr- Bert Hikichi with the U.
S. Army Corps of Engineers, top V of the excavation was backfilled with crushed
rocks. Crushed rocks, determined to be an unsuitable backfill material, were
removed and replaced with aggregate base materials on week of February 19,
1996. Final compaction of the aggregate base was not performed yet due to the
wet surface condition. CKY will perform final compaction and conduct compaction
test as soon as the surface condition permits.
Please feel free to contact CKY 9 you should have any questions.
Very truly yours, ( ,
Michael DeKlotz
Project Manager
3480 Torrance Blvd.- Suite 100, Torrancx..
