tStockton Promenade—N Edison3lreet USTs& Utility Corridors • Page 17
Underground Storage Tank Removal Report June 8,2009
WKA No. 7345.09
• The prior use of the four USTs, one of which was identified as having been installed and
owned by Standard Oil Company as of 1918.
• The prior use and in-place abandonment of previous underground petroleum piping
running adjacent to the former UST area, and likely connecting wharf docks along the
Stockton Channel to bulk petroleum facilities south of Weber Avenue.
I • Previous grain milling operations and a large wooden petroleum storage reservoir west of
the N. Edison Street UST area
It is difficult to determine the source(s) of petroleum hydrocarbon releases to soil and
groundwater beneath and surrounding the former N. Edison Street UST area because this area
has historically been reworked for prior land use, including the installation of the seawall along
the Stockton Channel.
The area between the WOTOA parking lot and the Stockton Channel is currently undergoing
' redevelopment and construction of the Stockton Promenade, which will continue to be owned
and maintained by the City of Stockton. During the recent installation of underground utilities
across this area, WKA assisted the City of Stockton in the removal and disposal of petroleum
' hydrocarbon impacted soil from these utility corridors, which included removal of impacted soil
from the former N. Edison Street UST area. WKA will provide the RWQCB with a separate
' report summarizing soil assessment and removal activities as part of the Stockton Promenade
construction project.
I
