Site Safety and Health Plan • •
UST Removal Project
ABF Freight System,Inc.
• Manteca,California Page 5
2.0 SITE INFORMATION
2.1 Site Description
The ABF Freight System, Inc. site is located off Highway 120 at 2427 West Yosemite Ave. in
Manteca, California. The site consists of a main freight terminal and office, truck parking, and a
single diesel fueling dispenser associated with one 10,000 gallon diesel UST. The layout of the
existing tanks is shown on the drawings in Attachment 1.
2.2 Site Map(s)
See Attachment 1 for site maps and general directions to the site.
2.3 Background Information
There is one underground storage tank (UST) scheduled to be removed. The capacity of the UST
to be removed is 10,000 gallons. The UST was installed in 1967 and is used for diesel storage
and supply. A 6,000 gallon UST containing gasoline was removed from the site in 1986. No soil
or groundwater contamination was found during the 6,000 gallon UST removal.
2.4 Description of Operable Units (OUs)
The operable unit concept is useful for co-located facilities that have different contaminants,
large sites, and sites having complex contamination from multiple sources. For remedial
investigation and risk assessment purposes, it may be useful to divide a site into operable units
based upon consideration of:
• the location of high priority stations,
• the chemicals of concern,
• the potential environmental transport pathways, and
• the potential future uses of the land.
Is the "operable unit" concept applicable to this site? No
•
\\SERVERI\C-DRIVE\PROJECTS\3272\Plans and Reports\Site Safety Health Plan.doc February 10,1998
