BOX 26000 <br /> Con�sw_�i.� SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA 95826 <br /> A <br /> L�11a11s <br /> NOTICE <br /> Licensing Requirements for Installation and Removal of <br /> Underground Storage Tanks <br /> Senate Bill 2004 (Keene) amended Section 7058 .7 of the Business and <br /> Professions Code and states in part that, "On and after January 1, <br /> 1992, a contractor shall not bid for the installation or removal <br /> of, or install or remove, an underground storage tank, unless the <br /> contractor has passed the hazardous substance removal certification <br /> examination developed pursuant to this section. " . <br /> Under current Board policy, only those contractors holding one of <br /> the following classifications are properly licensed to contract <br /> solely for the installation and/or removal of underground storage <br /> tanks: <br /> General Engineering Contractors (A) - General Engineering <br /> contractors may install and/or remove underground storage <br /> tanks for any purpose whatsoever at any location. <br /> Plumbing Contractors (C-36) - Plumbing contractors may install <br /> and/or remove any underground storage tank that provides a <br /> service to a building. This includes storage tanks for service <br /> stations. Any other type of underground storage tank may only <br /> be installed by a General Engineering contractor (A) . <br /> Limited Specialty Service Station Equipment Contractors (C61/D40) - <br /> Service Station Equipment contractors may install and/or <br /> remove fuel underground storage tanks at service stations or <br /> any other site up to a capacity of 20,000 gallons. <br /> A General Building (B) contractor may install and/or remove a <br /> underground storage tank only if such work is performed under <br /> contract to construct or remodel a building that houses people, <br /> animals or chattels, the work of which involves the use of three <br /> or more unrelated trades. <br /> You are not required to re-apply for the hazardous substance <br /> removal certification if you already hold this certification. <br /> The "Application for Hazardous Substance Removal and Remedial <br /> Action" , form 13A-26, may be obtained by contacting an office of <br /> the Contractors State License Board nearest to you, by writing to <br /> the above address, by calling our toll free automated services <br /> number 1-800-321-CSLB (from Sacramento call 327-9707) for <br /> applications and forms or by calling (916) 366-5153 . <br /> All questions on this issue should be directed to the Licensing <br /> Staff of the Contractors State License Board at the above address . <br />
