Memo From the Desk of JAIME FAVHA <br />Senior REHS <br />To: UNIT III -STAFF <br />Date: April 30, 1990 <br />Re: Policy - Reuse of UST <br />Facilities which choose to reuse UST's which have been removed from an existing UST <br />location shall provide the following information: <br />1. Facility shall obtain the manufacturer's certification that the UST's can be reused. <br />a) Manufacturer shall determine if tank(s) have had any modifications. <br />b) Manufacturer to perform an inspection and certify that UL fisted UST(s) are <br />still covered under warranty as stated at the time of their original purchase. <br />~; Manufacturer or Facility shall obtain certification from the Underwriter's Laboratory: <br />a) To determine that UST(s) are UL-listed.- <br />b) <br />L-listed.- <br />b) Written documentation which states that UL has reviewed the work performed <br />by the manufacturer to recertify tank, and an evaluation to determine that no <br />modifications were performed. <br />3. SWRCB comments on the reuse of a tank are as follows: <br />Verify that the structural capability meets the intent of the UST regulations. <br />The Law stipulates that a post installation test and a tank integrity test be done to <br />check the tightness of the tank. Also, attain the manufacturer's certification that the <br />UST(s) can be reused. <br />EH 23 052 <br />
