Broadway Avenue in
Stockton. During the meeting, concerns were raised about the March 1998 Risk Assessment Work Plan
and the 29 June 1998 review memorandum prepared by the Office of Environmental Health Risk
Assessment (OEHHA; enclosed). In response,I have reviewed the documents and have met with Dr.
Julio Salinas of OEHHA. My specific comments regarding the work plan are found in the enclosed
memorandum.
I believe that health risk assessments are best completed in small increments, with each step reviewed
and approved by the appropriate agencies. This approach usually alleviates the need for major revisions
to the final health risk assessment document. Accordingly, the next step in this process is the submittal
of(a) a response to the two enclosed memoranda, (b) a tabulation of all data to be used in the health risk
assessment, and (c) a final conceptual site model describing all exposure routes and potential receptors
to be addressed in the risk assessment. Please submit this information by 1 December 1998.
If you have any questions, or wish to meet to discuss these issues, please contact me by telephone at
(916) 255-3080 or by e-mail at wyelsw@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
"wv
WENDY WYELS
Site Cleanup Unit
Enclosure (2)
cc w/enc.: Dr. Julio Salinas, OEHHA, Sacramento
Mr. Mike Infuma, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Eric Chase, Sierra Pacific Groundwater Consultants,Inc., El Dorado Hills
Dr. Lee Shull, Davis
Ms. Nancy Bishop,Western Farm Service,Lafayette
Mr. Jan Waggoner, Unocal,West Sacramento
California Environmental Protection Agency
d Recycled Paper
