XERXES
CORPORATION
making a lasting difference'
November 13, 2017
Mark Vendeiro
E-mail: mvpengOatt.net
Cc: Jim Anderson, Xerxes
Greg Matas
Re: One 10 -foot -diameter 12k x 8k -gallon Double -Wall MCT
One 10 -foot -diameter 20k -gallon Double -Wall Tank
Buoyancy Calc- Manteca Chevron, 1231 N. Main Street, Manteca CA
Dear Mark:
We have summarized the buoyancy data you requested. All of the calculations are
based on the site data you have provided to us and on nominal engineering values
for the physical parameters.
All of the calculations are based on standard engineering practice. We use
approaches in a manner similar to the protocols presented in the PEI/RP 100-17
manual to calculate the underground tank Buoyancy Safety Factors.
It is the tank owner's responsibility to determine the suitability and applicability of
installation. Our sole responsibility in any installation is as stated in our Limited
Warranty.
Our calculations show that, given the installation parameters that you have provided
to us (calculated with the tank empty, burial depth of 6 feet 6 inches, the water
table at the same elevation as the top of the tank, and anchored with factory -
supplied deadmen) the Buoyancy Safety Factors are as follows:
Tank Buoyancy Safety Factor
10 -foot -diameter 12k x 8k -gallon Double -Wall MCT 2.56:1
10 -foot -diameter 20k -gallon Double -Wall Tank 2.63:1
We recommend a minimum Buoyancy Safety Factor of 1.20:1. I have included
copies of the worksheets for your files.
If we can be of additional assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Tejinder Singh
i Cc
Design Engineer -Sales Support
Attachment - 2
i 1
7901 Xerxes Avenue South - Minneapolis .
