AP1653 TANK"/N SERV/CE"/NSPECT/ON APPcus RTD O
CUSTOMER: AMERICAN BIODIESEL,INC INSP DATE(S): 10/25/2017
LOCATION: STOCKTON, CA CONTACT: MIKE PARISSI
INSP TYPE: API 653 EXTERNAL AND UT INSPECTOR(S): RONNIE HARLESTON
EQUIPMENT TYPE/DESCRIPTION: 25,000 GALLON STORAGE TANK
SERIAL/ID/ASSET#: T-118
INSPECTION COMMENTS/ CONCERNS / RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ultrasonic A-Scan Thickness Survey:
New TML locations were established and new base line reading was taken. See field drawing for new TML
location. Ultrasonic A-Scan thickness measurements were performed on the shell, roof, and cone. All readings
have been entered into Ultra Pipe and after review of the data next inspection date will be 10/25/2022. The
predicted retirement date of the tank is 01/06/2029 based on a 2 mil a year default corrosion rate. There are
0 caution TML locations per the current thickness survey completed on 10/25/2017.
API 653 External Inspection.
External visual inspection found this cone bottom tank to be in fair condition. This tank is fully foam insulated
and the insulation is in poor condition. There are areas of the insulation bulging and cracked open. This tank
is mounted on 4 vertical H-beams leg support system. The support legs are painted and found to be in good
condition with no significant issues found. The foundation is a concrete slab above grade level and is intact,
with no indications of settling noted. All anchor bolts are present, installed in the concrete foundation and are
in good condition. The nozzles and flanges are free of significant corrosion or leakage. All bolting is intact,
with no significant thread or fastener degradation found. Shell surfaces were inspected through the
inspection ports and where the insulation has failed and found light surface rusting present with no significant
corrosion noted. The installed static ground is intact and securely attached
Recommendations:
Re-move all damaged insulation and check for CUI (corrosion under insulation) or any other damages to the
tank. Sandblast those areas and apply a new paint coat before re-insulating.
The next external visual inspection will be time based at 5 years.
API 653 Internal Inspection:
Internal inspection was not scheduled at the time of this inspection. Internal inspection is recommended at
the next planned shutdown.
Inspectors Name and API# Inspectors Signature Date
James Reese 44021 10/25/2017
f
9
