Section Number: 1-1 <br />Issue Date: 3/27/2006 <br />Revision Date: <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />9-3 CALIFORNIA PERMIT -BY -RULE <br />Overview <br />The State of California exempts laundering of print towels from hazardous waste <br />treatment permitting conditions through Permit -By -Rule. <br />Three Key Issues: <br />• Permit -By -Rule exempts processing of print towels from hazardous waste <br />treatment permitting; <br />• Never accept towels with free liquids, soiled merchandise that has been used <br />clean-up a reportable spill, or waste deemed hazardous that has been added to <br />soiled merchandise. <br />• Conduct semi-annual inspections, and maintain records for three years <br />indicating the date, type of product, and quantity of products laundered. <br />Under this rule, ARAMARK must comply with the following requirements to maintain <br />exempt status. <br />Permit -By -Rule Requirements <br />1. Never accept soiled merchandise that has been used to control or clean-up a <br />reportable spill. <br />2. Never accept waste deemed hazardous that has been added to soiled merchandise <br />after the textile has been used. <br />3. Never accept towels with free liquids. <br />4. Maintain records for three years indicating the date, type of product, and quantity of <br />products laundered. <br />5. Implement and maintain a contingency plan. Train employees on the requirements <br />of the plan. <br />6. File a Notification of Intent with the state of California. <br />7. Processing facilities must conduct semi-annual inspections of all conveyance <br />systems and tankage. Documentation of this inspection must be kept on file. <br />
