Section Number: 2-1 <br />Issue Date: 05/06/2010 <br />Revision Date: <br />Page 7 of 16 <br />2-3 Storm Water <br />Overview <br />• The following section provides information on the regulations enacted to control <br />water pollution contributed from rainfall and snow run-off. This information <br />includes definitions, guidelines, permit requirements, and storm water discharge <br />requirements. <br />Definitions <br />Storm Water: Drainage and run-off resulting from rain, or snow melt, that is isolated from <br />all "Industrial Activities" <br />Industrial Vehicle maintenance, vehicle washing, chemical storage, equipment <br />Activities: maintenance, and production activities <br />Guidelines <br />Storm Water run-off must be managed at each site, including run-off from <br />adjacent properties. <br />All Industrial Activities must be isolated to areas within the Market Center's <br />buildings <br />All storage of chemicals, equipment, and merchandise must be sheltered and <br />contained. <br />Permit Requirements <br />• The Service Industry (SIC Code 7214- 7218) is exempt from federal permitting <br />requirements. This includes uniform rental and industrial laundries. <br />• Parking lots and roadways are exempt from federal permitting requirements. <br />• Local regulations may require permits based on location to waterways and on- <br />site activities. <br />• If a local permit is required, flow monitoring may be required, sampling and <br />analyses will be required during storm and run-off events, and sampling is <br />required regardless of the time of day. <br />Discharge Requirements <br />All storm water from parking lots must be directed to designated storm sewer <br />drains. <br />All process water, including truckwashing, must be directed to designated <br />sanitary sewer system drains, preferably through a plant process, pit, treatment <br />system, etc. <br />
