DER
ATTACHMENT
\\ BrIgM People.fllg[Solutioni.
V
ATTACHMENT A
WORK PLAN
PIEZOMETER DESTRUCTION
DELTA WATER SUPPLY PIPELINE PROJECT
H&H MARINA
EMPIRE TRACT, CALIFORNIA
File No. 113408.Task 3
September 21, 2010
INTRODUCTION
The following work plan is for the destruction of six piezometers as part of the Delta
Water Supply Pipeline project, near the H&H Marina, Empire Tract, California. If a portion
of this work plan does not meet the requirements of San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (EHD), or if those needs have changed, Kleinfelder will consider
appropriate modifications, subject to the standards of care or EHD Well Standards to
which we adhere as professionals.
BACKGROUND
Groundwater elevations have been recently monitored as part of dewatering and
recharge trench operations, with existing piezometers previously permitted and installed
as part of the Delta Water Supply Pipeline Project. The piezometers were installed due
to a nearby groundwater contaminant plume area at the H&H Marina at the west end of
8-Mile Road. Dewatering operation are planned to cease in the near future and CDM
has a scheduled timeline to abandon said piezometers soon after dewatering stops.
Six piezometers have been installed, three into a shallow groundwater zone
(approximately 15 feet depth) and three into a deeper groundwater zone (approximately
60 foot depth). This work plan details activities and the proposed abandonment
methodology that the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) has previously
read and approved. Mr. Tim O'Brien is the contact person at the RWQCB.
The following scope of work is generally based on typical EHD well
standards/requirements.
PROPOSED SERVICES
Task 1 — Pre-Field Activities
As part of the permitting process, Kleinfelder will submit this work plan, a health and
safety plan and completed permit application and fees to EHD. Kleinfelder will arrange
113408.Task 3/ST010P152 Page 1 of 3 September 21, 2010
Copyright 2010 Kleinfelder
