Lower Sacramento Road,
Lodi. The information was submitted at the request of the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (Central Valley Water Board). The WTP is owned by the City of
Stockton.
Well Destruction Activities
There are three wells at the facility proposed for destruction: 1) a monitoring well, 2) an
irrigation well, and 3) a domestic well. Because the Antidegradation Analysis indicated poor
groundwater quality exists in the upper aquifer zone, it is important to properly seal the
aquitard separating the zones. All of the wells will be destroyed by filling them with 10.3
sack, sand/cement slurry using a tremie pipe. Each of the wells is discussed below:
1) The monitoring well will be drilled out to the total depth. That approach is acceptable.
Please use adequate measures to ensure the lead auger doesn't wander off the well.
2) The irrigation well is 97 feet deep. It will be perforated to a depth of 90 feet. That
approach is acceptable.
3) The Domestic well is 165 feet deep. The workplan proposes to perforate it to a depth of
90 feet; however, in a 7 September 2010 telephone conversation Mr. Greg Lindstadt of CDM
stated the entire depth of the well would be perforated. With that verbal change to the
workplan, the well destruction approach is acceptable.
California Environmental Protection Agency
pia Recycled Paper
