• •
KLEINFELDER
nn emph)yft. r) nVd cwnpnny
Work Description
File No, 87057.G04
March 24, 2008
Mr. Frank Girardi, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Installing 4 piezometers for groundwater depth readings
Depth: 40 to 50 feet
Site: Delta Water Supply Pipeline
Location: North of Eight Mile Road and East of Rio Blanco Road, San Joaquin
County, California (Thompson Property)
Dear Mr. Girardi:
Kleinfelder is planning on installing four piezometers north of Eight Mile Road near
Bishop Cut slough in San Joaquin County, California. The 40 to 50-foot-deep
piezometers will be drilled using a CME 75 truck mounted drill rig equipped with mud
rotary capabilities. We will use 2-inch diameter PVC-pipes for casing. The casing in the
upper 5 feet will be solid with the remaining depth of casing screened. The annular
spacing between the casing and bore hole will be filled with sand within the screened
region of the casing. The sand will be capped with a layer of bentonite followed by
grout to the surface. The piezometers will be grouted with neat cement during
construction of the pipeline. We expect construction to proceed within 12 to 18 months.
If groundwater not encountered, borings will be grouted.
Sincerely,
KLEINFELDER WEST, INC.
Adam Killinger
Project Engineer
AJK:va
Attachment: Piezometer Location Map
87057.G04/STOBL063 ®2008 Kleinfelder
KLEINFELDER 2825 East Myrtle Street,Stockton,CA 95205.4794 (209)948-1345 (209)948-0621 fax
