15 January 1999
AGE -NC Project No. 98-0540
Page 2 of 4
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance soil probe borings at the site to determine if petroleum hydrocarbon
impact is present in the subsurface. The investigation is driven by a potential property transfer; no
regulatory directives are in effect for the property, The scope of work will include the following
tasks:
• Permitting and pre -held work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis; and
• Report preparation.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE -FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD. As required by PHS-EHD
permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance 11anual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985). Prior to mobilization, each soil probe location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance up to five soil probe borings. One probe boring will be advanced to a
depth of 30 feet below surface grade (bsg) within the former fuel UST area; one boring will be
advanced to a depth of approximately 20 feet bsg near the suspected former waste oil UST area; one
boring will be advanced at an angle to a vertical depth of approximately 15 feet near the existing
hydraulic Iift; one boring will be advanced to a depth of 15 feet near the existing septic system area;
and one boring will be advanced to a depth of approximately 15 feet bsg south of the dispenser
islands. Proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
Soil samples will be collected from each probe boring at five-foot intervals from ground surface to
the total depth of the boring. Field procedures for advancement of probe borings and collection of
soil samples are presented in Sections 4.1 and Section 4.2, respectively.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health Services (DHS) -
certified laboratory for analysis. Samples collected from the former fuel UST area, south of the
dispenser area and septic system area will be analyzed for:
Adranced GcoEnvironmental, Inc.
