traverses underground to surface at the Ozone'Injection'Panel (0113). The OIP contains
an ozone generator, pump and related valving and controllers to operate the system. The
OIP is mounted in a secure area near an electrical outlet for powering the system.
5.3 Ozone System Operation & Maintenance (0 & M)
Once the system is installed and operational, JJW anticipates initially performing O & M
on a weekly basis to confirm that the system is operating properly, that the specified
ozone concentration and flow rate are being maintained; and that the compressor pump
is operating to specifications. The O & M intervals should decrease to monthly checks
i once proper system operation is confirmed. Once the initial period of adjustments and
fine tuning are complete, the system requires very little maintenance'. Occasionally, parts
may fail and need replacing such as sticking valves or compressors burning out, but
JJW s experience suggests these are infrequent occurrences.
5.4 Ozone System Effectiveness Reporting
JJW anticipates reporting the condition and effectiveness of the ozone injection process
in the Quarterly Monitoring reports. In addition to the normal parameters .that are
measured during groundwater sampling, dissolved oxygen (DO) readings of the
groundwater will also be taken. DO is often the rate-limiting component of
biodegradation. Decreased DO levels can oftentimes=be associated with subsurface
aerobic utilization of oxygen, thus implying an increase in biodegradation.
• Upon approval of this workplan, we will'submit a cost estimate to Mr. John Cervantes of
JC Trucking to conduct the proposed remediation plan. The cost estimate will be
submitted to the-State UST Fund for pre-approval:
a
i
i
I
1
JJW GEOSCIENCES Inc.
