4.0 FIELD INVESTIGATION
4.1 DRILLING PERMIT
Prior to drilling, ENCON submitted a drilling application with the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD). The SJCEHD approved the permit on October 24, 2013. A copy of the
permit is included in Appendix B.
4.2 FIELD INVESTIGATION
On November 25, 2013, a geophysical survey was performed at the Property. The survey was completed
by Cruz Brothers, Inc., Scotts Valley California. The purpose of the survey was to identify subsurface
utilities, excavation backfill areas, and attempt to locate any former USTs locations. A combination of
electromagnetic induction (EM), magnetometry, and ground penetrating radar (GPR) were applied to the
search. A utility locator with line tracing capabilities was also brought to the field and used where risers
exist onto which a signal could be impressed and traced.
No significant anomalies indicating buried structures were detected. Survey methods are described in the
field notes provided in Appendix C.
To accomplish the stated objectives, ENCON performed the following field investigation activities:
• Advanced eight (8) soil borings (SB-1 though SB-8) to a maximum target depth of 20 feet bgs
(Please refer to Figure 2 Boring Location Map).
Boring Location, Laboratory Analysis and Method
Boring Sampling Areas of concern Soil sample Laboratory Analytical
Number Depth depth selected Method
for analysis
S113-1 10', 17.5' Former auto repair 10', 17.5' RCRA Metals via EPA Method
building, circa 1960s. 6010B/7471 (only for 10'soil
sample), TPH-GROs,
Northeast of current DROs/OROs, VOCs via EPA
auto repair bay.
