March 20, 1997 Chevron
Mr. Joel Weiss
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
3443 Rou tier Road, Suite A Chevron Pipe Line Company
Sacramento. CA 95827-3098 4000 Executive Parkway Suite 400
San Ramon.CA 94583
PO.8ox5059
Subject: Final Technical Approach to Site Evaluation and San Ramon.CA 94583-0959
Decision-Making Old Valley Pipeline Sites
Dear Joel:
Per your March 3, 1997 letter, Chevron Pipe Line Company(CPL) submits the subject document
for your use. As we have discussed over the last several months, CPL's objective in establishing
a consistent technical approach to Old Valley Pipeline sites is to assess existing and potential
future sites in a manner that meets CVRWQCB requirements and allows CPL to move sites
towards closure in a more timely manner.
As described in the work plans for the former Lyoth Loading Station (February 12, 1997) and
Mountain View Townhomes (January 20, 1997), CPL is moving these sites towards closure
following the subject document. Future Old Valley Pipeline projects will also follow this
method.
Thank you for your work in finalizing the Technical Approach to Site Evaluation and Decision-
Making Old Valley Pipeline Sites. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Dan Lapporte
at (510) 842-6718 or me at(510) 842-6877.
Sincerely,
K.L.
