(IT) for All-Pure Chemical Company. I
have the following comments:
1. A groundwater sample collected at least four years ago from a Geoprobe location(GP012) located
approximately 3,200 feet north-northeast of the All-Pure facility contained 30.9 µg/1 chloroform and
1.03 µg/l carbon tetrachloride. The nearest proposed groundwater sample location in the work plan
*'is 1,600 feet from GP012. A groundwater sample needs to be obtained adjacent to location GP012
for comparison to groundwater analytical results for samples obtained nearer the All-Pure facility.
2. The work plan states that figures summarizing the analytical data will be included in a site
investigation report. Analytical data figures shall include contours showing isoconcentrations of
carbon tetrachloride and chloroform.
3. According to the work plan, a reconnaissance groundwater sampling method (Hydropunch) will be
employed to assess the extent of chemicals of concern in groundwater. The work pian also states
that conclusions and recommendations will be presented in the site investigation report. The site
investigation report shall include recommendations and locations for monitoring wells, if warranted,
based on the results of the reconnaissance groundwater survey.
4. The work plan contains a generic schedule based on receiving offsite access. All-Pure has been
negotiating A ith adjacent properties for an extended period of time to receive offsite access. Field
work outlined in this work plan shall begin no later than 21 June 1999. A specific schedule shall be
submitted to the Board and shall include a site investigation report submittal date no later than
27 September 1999.
California Environmental Protection Agency
bRecycled Paper
