w./ V
SUM1%1ARY OF
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATIONS
200 N. BECKMAN STREET
LODI, CALIFORNIA
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents a summary of all soil and groundwater investigations conducted at the San
Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District (SJCMVCD) facility at 200 North
Beckman Street in Lodi, California. The details of each of these investigations has been
presented in previous reports. The summary will be used by Roy F. Weston (WESTON) to
develop a Corrective Action Plan for residual petroleum impacted soil at the site.
2.0 1986-1987 Investigation
In 1986, the SJCMVCD removed three underground storage tanks (USTs) from the site and
excavated soil beneath the gasoline UST to a depth of 31 feet below ground surface (bgs). A
soil and groundwater investigation conducted by Weiss Associates on behalf of the SJCMVCD
in 1987 consisted of completion of six soil borings and the installation of three groundwater
monitor wells (MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3) to a depth of approximately 50 feet (See Figure 1).
The soil and groundwater analytical results from the 1986 tank removals and additional
investigations completed in 1987 are included in Tables 1 and 2. Soil and groundwater samples
were analyzed for total fuel hydrocarbons MHC), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene
(BTEX), and lead. While the investigation identified the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon
compounds in soil to a depth of 31 ft. bgs. beneath the location of the former gasoline UST,
petroleum hydrocarbon compounds were not detected in groundwater samples from the three
monitor wells. Analytical data from soil samples collected from boring locations B-3 and B-4,
as well as Organic Vapor Analyzer data from MW-2 soils were non-detect for BTEX and TFHC
at the 41 ft. depth.
Note that fuel contaminated soils associated with the former USTs have been removed to a depth
of 31 feet below grade, therefore, the shaded results in Table 1 are for soils that are no longer
present at the site.
3.0 1991-4993_Quarlerly_Monitoring
WESTON began a quarterly groundwater monitoring program on behalf of the SJCMVCD in
December 1991. Only one of the three existing monitor wells at the site was found to have
enough water to sample in December 1991. Consequently, the EHD requested that an additional
1
