Beckman
Lodi, CA 95266
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Workplan for Soil Boring
Installation and Groundwater Sampling and Analysis", submitted by
Roy F. Weston, Inc. and has these comments in addition to the
Feb. 28, 1994 letter submitted to John Stroh from PHS/EHD.
-It was agreed that hydropunch borings through existing dry
monitoring wells would be grouted from the bottom to the top
of the existing well with bentonite chips. California split
spoon sampling method should be used in sampling beneath the
dry monitoring wells. The samples of soil within the split
spoon should be field observed for logging and possible
submission to laboratory for confirmation sampling. Soil
borings will be grouted with a 5% bentonite/cement mixture.
-A site specific gradient needs to be determined. The
gradient has been assumed to be to the northeast from 1987
neasurements. Since monitoring wells 2 and 3 have been dry
since at least December 1991, the gradient has not been
confirmed. PHS/EHD research reveals nearby sites including
Guild Winery on Winemaster Way (Gradient-South to Southwest)
and Roberts Petroleum on 930 Victor RD. (Gradient fluctuates)
-The consultant should conduct research in order to verify a
site specific gradient.
-Additional investigation may be necessary after review of the
results of the next report.
A DiN ision of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
