• The well will be sounded immediately before it is destroyed to make sure no obstructions
exist that will interfere with sealing If obstructions are present they will be removed
prior to sealing.
• The volume of the well casing and voids of the filter pack will be calculated
• Neat cement will be placed in the well from the bottom up using a tremae pipe. When
the neat cement approaches ground surface the tremae pipe will be removed and the
remainder of the neat cement will be placed in the well under pressure.
• The volume of neat cement added to the well will be recorded and compared to the
calculated volume.
A letter report describing well destruction will be prepared for submittal to the SJCPHS
Calculated and actual volumes of neat cement used will be reported
6.2 SOIL DISPOSAL
lie Soil cuttings and decontamination water from the 1994 and 1996 investigations are currently
stored in 55-gallon drums at the site. An inventory of the drums is presented on Table 4 A
total of 29 drums are located at the site Six of the drums are empty
Soil cuttings from borings SB-3 and SB-4 will be spread on site since contamination was not
detected in samples collected from these bonngs. A total of 5 composite soil samples will be
collected from the remaining drums and analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total
xylene, and TPH-G. One composite soil sample each will be collected from the SB-1 drums,
SB-2 drums, MW-5 drums, and unlabeled drums A composite water sample will be collected
from the two drums of decontamination fluid drums Extra soil and water will be collected and
archived pending a decision on disposal method Site disposal will be arranged upon receipt of
the analytical results The SJCPHS will be informed of final disposition of all soil.
LTROJECIWANJOQIC LREWVC_LOD CLO 10 1 May 1997
