Lisa Medina [EH]
From: Olton, Shane <Shane.Olton@stantec.com>
Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2012 4:20 PM
To: Lisa Medina [EH]
Subject: Chevron #9-4275 and ARCO#2133, 2905 and 2908 Ben Holt Drive,Stockton, CA 95207
- Revised Well Destruction Work Plan
i
Dear Ms. Medina,
This email is regarding our discussions with respect to the status of ARCO well location R-1. The Revised Well
9 9 p
Destruction Work Plan, dated December 5, 2012, lists well location R-1 as an ARCO well that will be destroyed as part of
site closure activities. However, as you pointed out in our telephone correspondence on December 10, 2012, the R-1 well
location was not presented on the Site Plan provided in the Work Plan. Subsequently, Stantec reviewed Geotracker and
in house historical files and was able to find maps with the R-1 well location. According to historical reports well R-1 was
installed at the ARCO Station in 1984 and used for groundwater extraction intermittently from 1984 to 1996. Given that the
well was removed from the map overtime, it is unclear if the well still exists or has previously been destroyed. In order to
move the site to closure it is requested that the Work Plan be approved as is and issuance of well destruction permits
proceed while the location and presence of well location R-1 is field verified. If the well R-1 is not located in the field, a
historical file search of county records and/or the DWR will be performed to determine if the well had been previously
destroyed. Once the presence/fate of the well is confirmed to the extent possible, an addendum to the Work Plan will be
submitted with the findings.
Sincerely, j
Shane Olton, PG
Senior Geologist
Stantec
3017 Kilgore Road Suite 100
Rancho Cordova CA 95670
Ph: (916)384-0758
Fx: (916)861-0430
Cell: (530)908-4404
Shane.Oltona-stantec.com
stantec.com
The content of this email is the confidential property of Stantec and should not be copied, modified, retransmitted,or used for any
purpose except with Stantec's written authorization.
