Benjamin Holt Drive S
June 1990
a
Based on the data generated so far from this site,
Groundwater Technology, Inc. recommends that two additional
groundwater monitoring wells be installed on site. The details
of the proposed well installation are presented in the next
section.
WORK STEPS
SOIL BORINGS
! Groundwater Technology proposes to install two additional
groundwater monitoring wells at this site. Figure 4 indicates
the proposed locations of the borings for the groundwater
monitoring wells. One soil boring will be drilled on site, west
of monitoring well MW-5. The other will be drilled, if
encroachment permits can be obtained and an appropriate well
T location can be found, off site to the east across Plymouth Road.
These locations have been selected to determine if dissolved
gasoline hydrocarbons extend off site to the west and/or east.
The soil borings will be drilled using a truck-mounted drill
rig equipped with 8-1/2-inch outside diameter (O.D.) , hollow stem
augers. During drilling, a Groundwater Technology field
s geologist will maintain a continuous log of the soils as they are
~ encountered. This log will include periodic measurements of
organic-vapor concentrations as indicated by field readings taken
i
with a photo-ionization detector (PID) . Tlie field geologist will
also collect samples from the continuous core for possible
Laboratory analyses. Such samples will be collected in clean,
2-inch-diameter brass tubes. T), tubes will be sealed with
aluminum foil, capped, and the craps secured with plastic tape to
produce an air--tight seal. The samples will be labeled and
placed on ice in an insulated cooler for transportation to GTEL
Environmental Laboratories, Inc. (GTEL) in Concord, California
under Chain-of-Custody Manifest. --
^. CROUNDtiiATER
i'ECHROLOGY.INC.
