23 U5,
r
Chevron/W. Benjamin Holt Drive 7
June 1990
Cuttings generated during drilling will be placed in steel,
' 55-gallon drums and held on site. Between boreholes, all down-
hole equipment will be cleaned using a pressure washer. Rinsate
= from this decontamination will be placed in 55-gallon steel drums
j and stockpiled on site. All wastes generated during this
assessment will be disposed of in an appropriate, legal manner
after laboratory analyses have determined if the waste must be
treated as a hazardous material.
j
Selected soil samples will be laboratory analyzed for the
presence of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) ,
and for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)-as-gasoline using
modified U.S. Enviranmental Protection Agency (EPA) Methods
5030/8020/8015. At least one soil sample from each borehole will
be analyzed. If .field observations and/or PID readings indicate
possible adsorbed hydrocarbons in the encountered soils,
additional samples may be analyzed.
Soil samples from above and below the water table may be
collected for physical testing. Such testing could include grain
size analyses, permeability, and/or porosity. Data from these
tests could be used to assess the practicality of possible
remediation strategies.
Additional info%-mation on Groundwater Technology standard
Operating Procedures (SOPS) for this, and all phases of field
work, is included in Appendix A.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING Wr= !NSTALT,ATION
The two boreholes will be completed as groundwater
monitoring wells. Unless otherwise required, wells will be
constructed of 2-inch-diameter, Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride
^SCJ GROUNDWATER
_, TECHNOLOGY INC.
