As we discussed last week, there are high-voltage electric lines running almost directly
under the well box(see attached photo). According to the engineers at PGM, the depth of the lines cannot
be confirmed, but they may be shallower than 24" bgs. Also, they will not turn off that section of line,as that
would result in a loss of power to their customers. Our drillers do not feel it is safe to jackhammer out the
concrete pad and well box in such close proximity to-active high-voltage electric lines.
On Friday, May 16, the well was pressure grouted to the surface. The metal.ring at the top of the well box was
removed and the void was filled with concrete. Please let-me know if this will be an.acceptable alternative to
removing the entire well box.
Thank you,
Amanda Magee, P.G.
Associate Geologist
Stantec
Phone: (916) 384-0743
Cell: (916) 747-3181
Amanda.Magee@stantec.com
The content of this email is the confidential property of Stantec and should not be copied, modified, retransmitted,or used for any purpose except with
Stantec's written authorization. If you are not the intended recipient, please delete all copies and notify us immediately.
® Please consider the environment before printing this email.
From: Vicki McCartney[EH] [mailto:vmccartngyCcbsjcehd.com]
Sent: Friday, May 09, 2014 3:11 PM
To: Magee, Amanda
Cc: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]; Nuel Henderson [EH]; John Yoakum [EH]; Lichtenberger, Deborah; Manning, Danielle
Subject: Variances for 7-Eleven Store No. 17334
Good afternoon Amanda:
Yesterday, you sent an email to Johnny.Yoakum stating that Stantec requests a variance to destroy monitoring wells MW-
2, MW-3 and MW-4 at 7-Eleven Store No. 17334 at 4501 North Pershing Avenue in Stockton. Instead of.over-drilling the
wells, as approved by letter dated 27 February 2014 from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD),,
Stantec requests"pressure grouting the wells to the surface and remove the well boxes with-hand tools.'
The EHD approves the destruction of MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 by pressure grouting with the following conditions:
Apply twenty-five pounds per square inch(psi) of liquid-grout pressure for a minimum of ten minutes at each well;
After applying the pressure, remove the well box arid:hand dig down to three feet below surface grade (bsg); cut
off the casing at two-and-a-half feet bsg.and grout the hole to near surface with neat-cement grout. The hole
need not be a foot larger in diameter than the originally drilled hole; the hole just needs to be large enough to be
1
