The proposed well would be
installed in the 60-foot-wide open' area between the off-ramp and the concrete wall that
defines the western edge of the ARCO Products Company (ARCO) property. Figure 1 shows
the proposed location of the well.
The San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (County), is
requiring that ARCO conduct an investigation of the soil and groundwater to the west and
southwest of the ARCO facility-on Caltrans' property. Currently, ARCO has groundwater
monitoring wells located on the western and southern edges of the ARCO property.
The well would be installed using a truck-mounted hollow-stem auger drill rig. The well
would be approximately 30 feet deep and would be completed in a flush-mounted traffic box.
The installation of the well in the Caltrans property will be completed within two days. After
the well is installed, groundwater samples will be collected from the well on a quarterly basis.
Other periodic maintenance on the we'll may be required. The well is expected to be in place
for at least five years.
745TCORRFS A7452.041A
