e
Ms. Laurie Cotulla
July 30, 1993
Page 2
As of-July 16, 1993, BC has not received a letter from CalTrans. Based on the conversation
with Ms. Meays, ARCO is proposing to install a monitoring well on the western side of the
ARCO site as an alternative to the CalTrans well. Figure 1 presents the proposed location of
this well. Upon receipt of the CalTrans letter, we will send a copy of it to the County.
Appendix A of this letter contains written documentation of the CalTrans contacts including
a March 17, 1993, letter to CalTrans requesting permission to drill.
We have not been able to contact the owners (including Lil Val, Inc.) of the property located
south of the ARCO Station to request permission to drill one soil borehole on this property.
The owners of the property where ARCO needs to drill are absentee landowners, and we
anticipate it will take some time to find them. BC will continue to pursue access to this area.
Item 3 is an inquiry of the screen interval for the soil vapor extraction wells. The screened
interval will be from the bottom of each well (approximately 25 feet below ground surface)
to 5 feet below ground surface.
Appendix A of the.work plan was incomplete. Appendix B of this letter is a revised field
methods section to be used during the field activities.
A permit application and fee will be forthcoming for the installation of the- wells.. BC
anticipates beginning the fieldwork upon County approval of this work plan and.receipt of
landowner permission.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at (916) 444-0123.
Sincerely,
BROWN AND CALDWELL
Steve Misner L
Project Manager
SDM Jrb
Enclosure
cc: Mr. Chuck Carmel, ARCO Products Company
Mr. Jay Lucas, Brown and Caldwell
Brown and Caldwell
Consultants 7525Xc0PJxEsr052_5-M.U2_
