Brown and Caldwell also collected one
water sample (R-1) from the recovery system.
. i
Quarterly Sampling
Prior to sampling wells PR-1, PR-2, BHD-1, E-2, E-5, E-8, E-9, E-10, E-.l, and E-12, a
i - pump (supplied by Armour Petroleum Services) was used to purge approximately three well
casing volumes of water from each. Each well was then sampled with, a Teflon bailer
equipped with a bottom-emptying valve. The sample was then .drained directly from the
bottom valve into two 40-milliliter glass bottles with Teflon-lined septa. Sample R-1 was
collected directly from the discharge valve between the pump and the separator tank. A
I-liter amber glass bottle and two 40-milliliter glass tottles were used to sore Sample R-1.
The samples were stored on ice from the time of collection through delivery to Eureka
Laboratories. All of the samples were analyzed for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, :and 1 y
xylene (BETX) by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 602. Sample R-i
was aisc analyzed for total petroleum fuel hydrocarbons (TPH) by EPA Method 8015,
modified. Results are summarized in Table 1. The complete laboratory reports are
enclosed. All groundwater produced during well sainpling was removed from the site by
Armour Petroleum Services,
Constituents in the groundwater sample from well PR-2 are below detection limits. 'The
sample from monitoring well PRA has detectable levels of BETX. BETX constituents are
detectable it tite samples from wells BHD-1, E-2, E-5, E-8, E-9, E-10, E-11, and E-12. .In
all saniples, except PR-2, the benzene concentration exceeds Ctali ornla Department of
1-lealth Services (DMS) Drinking Nater Action Levels.
MSSTR££T SACTWENTO.GµIFORNIA95al4-7M-(96i444a123
