TF;e site is on an alternating schedule for sampling; eight
wells are sampled quarterly, except in l=ehsuary and August, at which time all 15 wells are
sampled. The samples represent the second quarterly sampling event of 1990, and the first
quarterly sampling event under Task Order 2133-90-2.
Quarterly Sampling
Prior to sampling wells PR-1, BHD-1, E-2, E-5, E-8,E-10, E-11, and E-12, a diaphragm pump
(supplied by Armour Petroleum Services) was used to purge approximately three well-casing
volumes of water from each. Each well was sampled using a separate disposable polyethylene
bailer equipped with a bottom-emptying valve. The water.was drained directly through the
bottom valve into two 40-milliliter glass bottles with Teflon-lined septa.
The samples were stored on ice from the time of collection through delivery to Eureka
Laboratories. All of the samples were analyzed for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylene
(BETX) by U.S.Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)Method 602. Results are summarized
in Table 1. The complete laboratory reports are enclosed as Appendix A. All groundwater
produced during the sampling activity was stored onsite pending laboratory analysis.
Cross contamination of samples was minimized through the use of separate disposable bailers at
hoses on the diaphragm pump at each well.
h `
