• DESCRIPTION OF WORK IN CALTRANS RIGHT-OF-WAY, <br /> NORTHBOUND I-5 OFF RANIP AT BENJAMIN HOLT DRIVE <br /> The San Joaquin County En%tronmental Health Department (County) requested that ARCO define <br /> the extent of hydrocarbons in the groundwater to the west and south of the ARCO site located <br /> at 2908 Benjamin Holt Drive On March 17, 1993 BC submitted a letter to Caltrans requesting <br /> permission to install one groundwater monitonng well in the Caltrans right-ot-way between the <br /> northbound I-5 oft ramp and the ARCO facility This request was verbally denied by Caltrans <br /> citing safety as the reason for denial On July 1, 1993, BC personnel requested a written denial <br /> of the access from Caltrans BC has not received a written denial ARCO installed two <br /> groundwater monitoring wells on the westernmost portion of the ARCO property in an attempt <br /> to define the lateral extent of hydrocarbons in the groundwater to the west Groundwater samples <br /> collected trom the well on the southwest portion of the site indicate that hydrocarbons are present <br /> in the groundwater to the southwest of the ARCO site beneath the Caltrans property The County <br /> has again requested that a groundwater monitorin�t, well be installed in the Caltrans right-ol-way <br /> to define the extent of hydrocarbons in the groundwater The monitoring well would be installed <br /> in the location shown on Figure 1 The monitoring well would be constructed as illustrated in <br /> Figure 2 The well installation will take approximately 8 hours and the well would be sampled <br /> on a quarterly basis Well sampling takes about one hour to complete each quarter <br /> i <br /> i - <br />
