MONITORING METHOD <br />Underground storage tanks(UST's) and lines are monitored <br />by a continuous electronic leak detection system which <br />consists of an alarm panel, sensors and associated <br />electronics. Liquid sensors area installed in the annular <br />space of each tank and product line piping Bump. Whenever a <br />sensor detects the presence of a liquid there is both a <br />visual and audible alarm at the control panel. <br />2. ROUTINE MONITORING PROCEDURE <br />On a daily basis the facility operator shall: <br />A. Inspect the control panel for visual and audible alarm <br />signals and that unit is operating. <br />B. Inspect island and tank fill areas for signs of <br />Spillage or petroleum sheers. <br />C. Record the inspection observations on <br />nathe Daily <br />visual Monitoring Log (Foria <br />3. LEAK RECORDING AND REPOR'T'ING PROCEDURE <br />Whenever an alarm is activated station personnel are to <br />immediately: <br />A. Contact ARCO Maintenance or its designated agent <br />by telephone. <br />H. if any visible indications of petroleum products or <br />vapors are noticed call 911. <br />C. Make an entry in the Recordable Discharge Log (Form <br />APPC-765-1 attached). <br />D. Complete the Recordable Discharge Log when and as <br />the sourca of the alarm is known. <br />4. RECORDS RETENTION <br />All monitoring and leak recording logs are to be retained at <br />the facility for three years. <br />
