1
equipment. Three soil borings, B-1 through B-3, were drilled to approximately 25 feet
below ground surface on the northern and downgradient boundary of the site, near the
sidewalk on West Ben Holf Drive. Soil borings B-I through B-3 were subsequently
converted into monitor wells, MW-4 through MW-6, respectively.
Laboratory analyses of soil and groundwater samples collected from this site during the two
t
subsurface investigations indicate hydrocarbon impact to both soil and groundwater primarily
in the immediate vicinity of the pump island (borings B'5, B-6 and monitor well MW-2) and
the underground storage tanks (boring B-4).
i The underground storage tanks, pumps and product pipelines are scheduled to be removed. r
Because of the location and the levels of hydrocarbons present, the over-excavation and
removal of soils containing hydrocarbons will probably remove the major source of
hydrocarbons. These soils will be lying on and covered by visqueen pending analytical
results. The soils will then be transported to the proper Iandfill. Groundwater remediation
and/or additional soil remediation can then be evaluated.
i
i
i
v
t
