SB-02. In boring SB-03, water was encountered in a brownish-gray clayey sand of low
plasticity. As previously mentioned, measured water levels are presented in Table 1.
Figure 6 is a groundwater elevation map based on measured water Ievels of 25 March
1991. The levels were converted to elevations using top-of-casing survey information.
All groundwater elevations on this date were between 12.4 and 12.7 feet below mean sea
level. The snap was constructed by triangulation (three-point problem method) which
assumes the water table to be a planar surface. The wells are situated with sufficient
rtdistances between one another to give a reliable gradient measurement and flow direction
estimation.
The groundwater P approximately {
gr gradient based on this ma is a mximatel 0.002 0.3 feet of
groundwater elevation difference over a length of 13 feet). The direction of
groundwater flow at the site is assumed to be perpendicular toe equal elevation contour
lines and in a direction from higher to lower
g groundwater elevation. The direction of
flow is therefore estimated to be to the northeast with a bearing of N 40'E.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil Analyses
A-total-of three, (3):soil.samples, ono:from each well, were analyzed for BTEX by
EPA Method 8020 and TPH by EPA Method 418.1. .Benzene and thluene were not
detected above analyrical-detection limits-in any of.the soil samples. Ethyl benzene was
detected in the -2) sample at a concentration of c b) and total
, . x,, lee were detected at a concentration of c in the same sample. Ethyl
benzene and total xylenes were not detected above analytical detection limits in samples
from SB-01 (MW-1) and SB-03 (MW-3). TPH was deteete&ava concentration of 1500
mg/kg (ppm)in the SB-02 (MW-2) soil sample,and 12 mg/kg (ppm) in the SB-01 (MW-
1) sample. TPH was not detected above analytical detection limits in the SE-03 (MW-3)
! soil sample. 'fable 2 summarizes these soil analytical results; laboratory data sheets are
provided in Appendix E.
Groundwater Analyses
.,. Three (3) groundwater samples, one from each well, were analyzed for BTEX by EPA
t Method 602, and three (3) groundwater samples. one from each well, were analyzed for
1
4-2
173-0715 4124)91
