1 ' QUARTERLY SUMMARY REPORT Exxon Service Station 7-3330 3128 West Benjamin Holt Drive ' Stockton, California December, 1991 ' January, 1992 BRIEF HISTORY ' • The site was an active Exxon Retail Service Station from 1968 to 1991 As a part of the process of returning the lease to the owner, the service station building was demolished September 30, 1991 The underground fuel storage tanks, the waste oil tank, the pumps ' and the product pipelines were removed October 9, 1991 The tank excavation has been covered with plastic since October 9, 1991 ' • Ten soil borings were drilled in 1991 Of these, six were converted into monitoring wells These wells were installed and sampled according to the regulatory guidelines and protocol ' WORK DONE THIS PERIOD • In preparation for the soil excavation activities, two monitor wells, MW-1 and MW-2, were permitted to be abandoned The wells were abandoned on November 7, 1991 MW-2 was abandoned by overdrilling the casing, removing the casing and filter pack, and grouting the hole with a grout of bentonite chips which were hydrated Overdrilling ' was attempted on MW-1, but due to the proximity of of MW-1 to the excavation pit, overdrilhng was unsuccessful MW-1 was succesfully abandoned using pressure grouting techniques with a bentonite slurry ' • A public meeting was held on December 4, 1991 in Stockton to discuss the Soil Remediation Proposal, submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division in September 1991 • The soil stockpile was sampled December 9, 1991 and the soils were removed from the site on December 14, 1991 Transportation was performed by Dillard Trucking, Inc of ' Byron, California, a licensed hazardous materials hauler The material was transported to licensed Class II and Class III facilities PLANNED SITE ACTIVITIES ' • Site remediation by soil excavation ' • Continuation of quarterly groundwater sampling and analysis • Preparation of a proposal to address groundwater issues 1
