gift
Por . Doug Wilson , R.S .
October 1, 1987
Page 4
113 constituent in samples TEA-2 and TEA-4 is below the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
(Regional Board) designated level for the protection of groundwater
quality (September 1986) . The benzene in soil sample TEA-3 was
detectable , but below the Regional Board designated level for the
protection of groundwater quality. All other constituents in these
three samples were below detection limits.
Soil sample TSP-4 , from the waste oil-stained stockpile, had
detectable EPA 8015 , modified constituents in the motor oil range.
Soil sample TSP-5 from the visibly clean stockpile had detectable
EPA 8015 , modified constituents in the motor oil range . Sample
TSP-5 also had detectable pesticide constituents 4 , 4 ' -DDD and
methoxychlor . No designated level has yet been established for
4 , 4 , -DDD. The methoxychlor constituent was below the Regional Board
designated level for the protection of groundwater quality. All
other constituents in these two samples were below detection limits.
Based on these results, we recommend no additional excavation at the
site . The waste oil product in the soil is detectable, but at
levels which pose no immediate or long-term health threats . Both
soil stockpiles should be removed and transported to a Class I
landfill . Photocopies of the signed manifest for soil transport
should be sent to San Joaquin County Local Health District, ARCO,
and BC.
Please review this report of our latest findings and conclusions,
and inform us of any additional recommendations or requirements for
the site . If you have any questions or comments , please contact
Ms . Johanna Ambler .
Very truly yours ,
BROWN AND CALDWE
C...
- 94
iry .
