(AGE). Petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected 'in samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1
and MW-4; samples collected from MW-2, MW-3, MW-5 MW-6U, MW-6L and
MW-7 had less than detectable concentration of fuel components.
The report included a recommendation for continued quarterly monitoring and
stated that the additional site investigation work plan, approved by this office
23 April 2001, will be scheduled. The proposed work received pre-approval from
the State Clean up Fund on 24 April 2002. As nearly two years are more than
enough time to schedule and implement such a simple work plan, you are
directed to have the work scheduled with this office by 23 April 2003, with the
work to be completed within the following 45 days and a report of findings
submitted within 60 days of completion of the field work.
EHD notes that the ground water flow direction(s) at the site appears to be stable
and the samples from many of the monitoring wells consistently have contained
less than detectable concentrations of the chemicals of concern. EHD will
consider a reduction of the sampling frequency of some of the wells if proposed
by your consultant and the modified monitoring schedule can be shown to
adequately monitor the plume of impacted ground water.
Please submit a drilling permit application for each parcel with the $89.00 fee for
each parcel to EHD. Provide EHD copies of any encroachment permits and
access agreements with the permit applications. Notify EHD at least 72 hours
prior to commencing each phase of fieldwork.
