.Ol
12 February 1996
AGE-NC Project No.95-0106
Page 3 of 6
ground water monitoring wells: one monitoring well will be located in vicinity of probing six (P6);
a second well will be located south of probing two (P2) on the adjacent property (also owned by
Weldon Church); a third well will be placed in the City of Tracy right of way east of the driveway;
and a fourth well will be located in the City of Tracy right-of-way along the north side of Beverly
Place. Proposed monitoring well locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
Each well should be designed with four-inch casings screened from 3 to 15 feet in depth, this will
allow for adequate ground water recharge during sampling. Monitoring well design is illustrated in
Figure 3 -Xfonitoring Well Design.
Each boring will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow stem drill rig equipped with 8.25-inch
hollow-stem augers. Soil samples will be collected beginning at a depth of 3 feet bsg. Samples will
be collected using a California split-spoon sampler and brass sleeves or a continuous core sampler.
The samples will be driven by dropping a 140-pound weight fi-om a height of 30 inches. The number
of blows required to drive each 6-inch length of the sampler blow counts) are to be recorded on the
boring logs by an AGE staff geologist.
Upon sample retrieval, the middle brass sleeve will be removed from the sampler. The ends of the
sleeve will be inunediately covered with Teflon sheets, sealed with plastic end caps, secured with tape
and immediately placed under ice in a chilled container for transportation to a State-certified
laboratory. Each soil sample sleeve will be labeled with the following: boring location, vertical depth,
time, date and sampler's initials.
3.2. EQUIPMENT DECONTAXIINATION
Ail sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox. All hollow stein augers are steam-cleaned prior to
advancement in each borehole.
3.3. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Selected soil and ground water samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, BTE&X, methyl-tert-butyl ether
(MTBE) and total organic carbon(TOC) in accordance with EPA methods 8015m/5030, 8020/602,
8020/602 and 9060, respectively. Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analyses, testing
methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody
documentation will be presented in a report with the findings and recommendations.
Duplicate soil samples may be released to a State-certified laboratory to be analyzed for intrinsic
permeability, moisture content and porosity in accordance with the appropriate ASTM methods.
