WORK PLAN FOR SOIL AND GROUND WATER INVESTIGATION
December 1995
Weldon Church, Inc.
104 West Beverly Place
Tracy, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Weldon Church, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)
has prepared the enclosed Work Plan for Soil and Ground Water Investigation at 104 West Beverly
Place in Tracy, California(the site). The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the
site is illustrated on Figure 2.
The work is performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board guidelines for investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
2.1. SITE LOCATION
The site is located in a residential area of central Tracy, California, in San Joaquin County (Figure 1).
One house and a detached garage/storage area are currently located on the property. An apartment
complex is located immediately west of the site; residences are located to the south and east of the
site.
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
One small capacity(less than 550-gallons)UST was installed at the site in the early 1980s. The tank
was used to fuel vehicles associated with Church Refrigeration, a company owned and operated by
Weldon Church. The tank was removed in early 1988. Groundwater was encountered in the tank
excavation and one soil and one water sample were collected in August 1988.
Both samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g),
stoddard solvents, paint thinner, diesel, kerosene, motor oil and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene,
ethyl benzene and xylene: BTE&X).
TPH-g, toluene and xylenes were detected in the soil sample at concentrations of 530, 21.0 and 79.2
parts per million (ppm), respectively. TPH-g , benzene, toluene and xylenes were detected in the
water sample at concentrations of 117,000, 10,100, 11,300 and 9,330 parts per billion (ppb),
respectively.
