low vow
02 December 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0106
Page 8of10
coated bentonite pellets into the annulus and allowing them to settle on the filter pack. The bentonite
will be allowed to hydrate for a minimum of one-half hour prior to grouting. t
 M-F a
The remaining annular space will be filled within one foot of the ground surface with a cement grout. q
The grout mixture will consist of Type MI portland neat cement and not more than 3 gallons of water
per 0-pound sack of cement. The grout will be placed by pumping through tremmie pipe. A
,grouting inspection will be scheduled with EHD personnel.Well construction details are i lustrated
in Figure 5.
Following completion of the monitoring wells, well elevations and locations will be surveyed by a
California-licensed surveyor relative to a City elevation benchmark.
4.4. WELL DEVELOPMENT
Development of the proposed well will consist of a combination of bailing with a stainless steel
bailer to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside the well, surging to flush
out or draw in sediment from the filter pack, and additional ground water evacuation(purging)with
a Waterra bailing pump to finish the removal of fine-grained sediment. Developmental purging
activities will be continued until field parameter (pH, electrical conductivity, and temperature)
readings have stabilized and purged water is visually sediment-free.
4.5. BACKGROUND/BASELINE FIELD MONITORING AND SAMPLING
,orf 5 tv
Monitoring and sampling will be p formed in accordance with AGE's standard monitoring and
sampling procedures(Appendix G .Field parameters and laboratory samples will be collected from
well MW-4 and from the proposed monitoring well. The wells will be monitored and tested for the
constituents and parameters listed in section 3.4 Data collected during the event will be used to
establish baseline values and to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. Additionally
background testing will establish baseline metal values prior to the application.
4.6 ISCO SOLUTION PREPARATION AND INJECTION PROCEDURE
a
A 5% solution of RegenOxTM will be prepared on-site for the three rounds of pilot injections The 1
product comes prepacked from the manufacturer in 30 pound PVC buckets in two parts.Part A(the
oxidant) is an mixture of sodium percarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium silicate and silica gel;
Part B is a mixture of sodium silicate solution, silica gel and ferrous sulfate. Product MSDS's for
both media have been included as Appendices I and J.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
