Sampling equipment will
also be washed in an Alconox and tap water solution and rinsed inl distilled water between each sample
collection.
S
2.8 CONTAINMENT OF WASTES '9
la }
'1
Soil cuttings generated during drilling and sampling activities at the site will be contained in Department
of Transportation-(DOT)rated 55-gallon drums. Disposal options and costs are not addressed in this i
work plan due to lack of information regarding contaminant levels. However, all drums will be labeled
with the following information: source,owner's name and phone number', date and time, and the words
"pending laboratory analysis." I
I
h
3.0 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
I{
ii
The soil samples collected during the field investigation will be submitted to a State of California-
certified laboratory under proper chain-of-custody procedures. Thee soil samples will be analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH) in the diesel range, in accordance with California Department of
Health Services method for TPH characterization, and will be quantified against diesel fuel standards. If
additional sampling is required, a cost estimate may be prepared at that time to include optional
I
laboratory analysis for semivolatile organic compounds using EPA Method 8270.
LABORATORY QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL
A quality assurance/quality control(QA/QC)program will be imp'lemenied during this study to ensure
the precision and accuracy of the data collected. The California-certified laboratory will be required to
perform the appropriate QA/QC procedures for each analytical method used, in accordance with the
li
'j
. 4
I
