2 <br /> SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH PLAN <br /> PROJECT SUMMARY <br /> The project site is ARCO Station 6080 located at 85 E.Louise Avenue in Lathrop,California. <br /> The current facility activities include dispensing gasoline and a retail store. The purpose of the <br /> preliminary investigation is to determine whether the soil or groundwater have been affected with <br /> i hydrocarbons. The field activities will include drilling two boreholes and collecting soil and <br /> groundwater samples. The field activities will involve a drilling subcontractor and one BCC <br /> geologist. Field activities will take about one day. <br /> KEY PERSONNEL <br /> Sharon Premzic is the project manager(PM). Ms.Pam Wolfenden,the Certified Industrial <br /> Hygienist(CIH),is the health and safety officer(HSO). Tina Bauer is the project geologist and <br /> will also function as the site safety officer(SSO), The project field staff have completed 40 hours <br /> of comprehensive health and safety training which meets the requirements of Title 29 Code of <br /> Federal Regulations Part 19I0.120(29 CFR 1910.120). The SSO has the authority to monitor <br /> ' and correct health and safety problems as noticed on site. <br /> j <br /> The PM is responsible for generating,organizing,and compiling the SSHP which describes <br /> 1 all planned field activities and potential hazards that may be encountered at the site. The PM is also <br /> responsible for assuring that adequate training and safety briefing(s)for the project are provided to <br /> the project team. The PM has provided a copy of this SSHP to each member of the <br /> team field <br /> team and one copy to the subcontractor prior to field activities. <br /> js Tho HSO is respoesihle for developing and coordinating the Brown and CaldweII(13C)health <br /> and safety program. 170 specific projects,the HSO is responsible for reviewing and approving the ` <br /> draft SSHP for accuracy and incorporating new information or guidelines which aid the PM and <br /> SSO in further definition and control of the potential health and safety hazards associated with the <br /> project. <br /> The project geologist is responsible for ensuring that all data acquisition is performed in <br /> j accordance with the workplan and SSHP,and that deviations from the plan are based upon field <br /> j conditions encountered and are well documented in the field notes. The project geologist's health <br /> and safety responsibilities include: <br /> Following the SSHP. <br /> I <br /> 2. Reporting to the PM any unsafe conditions or practices. <br /> ------- Reporting.to the.PM_all facts peilaining to incidents which result in injury or exposure — <br /> to toxic materials. -- —— -- -- <br /> 4. Reporting to the PM equipment malfunct+ons or deficiencies. <br />
