Mr, Michael Infurna October 21, 1991
02320 1837 Page 2
r TASK 3: SOIL SAMPLING
Upon completion of the excavation the appropriate number of soil samples as determined by the San
Joaquin Local Health District Environmental Health Division site representative will be taken from the
bucket of the excavator. Each soil sample will be screened for volatile compounds utilizing a
photoionization detector. The soil samples will be described (using the Unified Soil Classification
System) by a Groundwater Technology field geologist, working under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. The samples will be sealed with aluminum foil, capped, taped, labeled, and
placed on ice in an insulated container.
TASK 4: LABORATORY ANALYSES
Groundwater Technology will select the appropriate number of soil samples from each of the soil
borings utilizing the previously noted field screening techniques. Each sample will be analyzed by a
State-certified laboratory for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), and total
petroleum hydrocarbons-as-gasoline (TPH-G) by EPA-approved Methods 50301802018015.
TASK 5: SOIL STORAGE & DISPOSAL
All soil generated during the site activities will be stored on site. Approximately, 139 cubic yards are
stockpiled at the site pending characterization and disposal at a recycling facility. Storage of the soil
on site was witnessed and approved by Charlie Hunt of the San Joaquin Local Health District
/ Environmental Health Division.
TASK 5: REPORT PREPARATION j
Groundwater Technology will prepare a letter report for submittal to the SJLHD summarizing the field
activities. The report will include descriptions of all methodology, laboratory results, and plan drawings
depicting former facilities and sampling locations.
I
Groundwater Technology is prepared to begin work on this project immediately following approval of
any required permits by the appropriate agencies. Please contact Groundwater Technology's West
Sacramento office if you have questions or comments about this work plan.
Sincerely,
GROUNDWATER TECHNOLOGY, INC.
CC
ED GILL WATERS
FieI Supervisor
Construction Services Manager
EOTT E.
