Based on
the following rationale, PHS/EHD is prepared to seek concurrence from the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board for the closure of this site.
1. Groundwater analytical data collected on this site over the last three
quarters demonstrate non-detectable concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel, and the constituents of gasoline;
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene.
2. Although sampling events conducted in late 1989, 1990, and very early
1991, indicated low levels of each of the components that were
analyzed, these results were extremely inconsistent over the total
monitoring period and generally not repeatable.
3. Due to the location of this site and other site specific limitations,
PHS/EHD does not feel that the current conditions, as a result of the
previously leaking underground storage tanks at this site, pose a threat
to the health and safety of the citizens of San Joaquin County.
The closure letter generated by this office indicating'no further action required at this time" can not be
issued until the Regional Water Quality Control Board concurs with the recommendations of this letter,
and the current monitoring wells on site are destroyed under permit and inspection by PHS/EHD.
Should you have questions or concerns regarding this matter, you may contact, Steven Schneider, RENS,
of my staff at (209) 468-3441.
Jogi Khanna ., M.P.H.
Health O c F-1
aurie A.
