Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
GRUPE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, BROOKSIDE DEVELOPMENT SITE, AREA 3, SAN JOAQUIN
COUNTY, PROPOSED GROUND WATER MONITORING WELLS
We have reviewed the 25 August 1989 work plan prepared by Grupe's consultant,
Levine-Fricke. The investigation includes installation of 5 monitoring wells
to investigate the quality of ground water in the vicinity of a former above-
ground diesel tank and a former drum storage area.
Based on telephone conversations between Regional Board staff and Levine-
Fricke, we understand that discharges to ground water which may have occurred
in other areas of this property are not included in the background information
provided in the work plan. We request that all available information on
contaminants in other areas of the property be submitted to this office.
Areas of concern include underground storage tank locations and the "garbage
pit" identified on the site plan. Please note that this garbage pit may be
subject to other monitoring and closure requirements. Any information
regarding depth of this pit and types of wastes disposed of should be
submitted to this office for review by the Subchapter 15 and San Joaquin
County Regulatory sections.
The proposed monitoring well locations and depths appear adequate for this
phase of the investigation. However, we recommend that prior to report
preparation, a second round of samples be obtained and analyzed to verify the
initial results. Because the specific types of materials stored in the drum
storage area are not known, we request that the proposed analytical procedures
be modified to include total dissolved solids, general minerals and nitrates.
If you should have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5731 .
THOMAS D.
